Makgeolli News for China

The Chosun Ilbo published a story today reporting that Chinese imports of makgeolli nearly tripled in January 2015 according to the Korea Customs Service. From the article: “The increase has been attributed both to the popularity of Korean pop culture in China, and to the country’s newfound taste for low-alcohol beverages.”

There is a typo regarding the price of makgeolli in China. 30 yuan equals about $5 USD (or about ₩5,000). Unless, of course, the writer meant that makgeolli costs closer to 300 yuan. But $50 for makgeolli?! That’s just crazy…
